I just realized that the lack of acceptance for asexuals is literally the dumbest thing.
Like, you can’t handle the thought of two dudes kissing? Okay you’re dumb and terrible whatever.
But you can’t handle the idea… Of someone… Not kissing anyone? What are you worried about? They’re gonna eat too much mac n cheese?? Draw too many dinosaurs??? Tell me
Victor Hugo goes up to the counter and describes the drink he wants in detail for an hour, laying out the minutiae of the process, presentation, and backstory of his extremely simple dark roast with sugar. By the time he’s finished, the store is closed, the barista has left, and Victor returns home empty-handed.
HARU’S PARENTS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL
ok but where have these two been for two whole seasons
#how obvious is it tho that haruka’s parents are pretty neglectful? #it’s not just that our protagonist’s parents haven’t shown up #but that they’ve been actively mentioned as absent #they’ve been called ‘free spirits’ who were implied to be only rarely home from their travels #over two school years and one summer in which we’ve seen inside haruka’s house many times #they’ve NEVER been home #plus I know a lot of people haven’t read High Speed but #Haruka mentioned that he went straight to the swim club after school because he didn’t like being home alone #he was in elementary school and his parents left him alone every single day #I mean he’s never seemed to have financial troubles or anything #but they’ve probably just been so emotionally absent his whole life#and I know he’s a fairly independent person #but I can’t help but question if he was just forced to be like that from an early age #and how much it’s stunted his emotional development and contributed to his depression in this past season #oh I made myself sad
im putting my tags here bc this is important
I’m adding my thoughts here as a comment because I feel really strongly about this. I think Haruka’s parents’ absence throughout his childhood was one of the main reasons he started isolating himself from others and loving swimming in the first place.
It’s fairly obvious by now that Haruka didn’t consider swimming as important as, for example, Rin did, because he said so himself in the last episode of the series. That means he didn’t start swimming out of passion, or interest. I firmly believe Haruka started swimming because he didn’t want to deal with the stress, worries and loneliness of the “real world”: he lived alone in a big, empty house, never had the support needed from his parents, and his only friend was Makoto, who did all he could to hep his friend, obviously, but he alone could never make up for all the loneliness and pain Haruka felt. That doesn’t mean Makoto wasn’t ever important to him, not at all: shipping arguments aside, I’m absolutely certain Makoto is the main reason Haruka did not break down completely when he was a kid.
Being in the water was Haruka’s way of being free, because when you’re submerged you are separated from the world, you are alone, in silence, you can do whatever you want, you can forget about the empty house that awaits your return at the end of the day, and, really, who could blame him? He was only a little boy, had a single person that was really present in his life, and was well aware of that.
Eventually being in the water became almost an obsession, because he began associating water with freedom: as long as he swam, as long as he felt free, he could pretend that he really was.
It wasn’t until he met Rin, Nagisa and then Rei that he began realizing what the water really meant to him. By the end of the first season he accepted the fact that swimming was important to him because it made him feel happy, less alone; he swam freely because he swam with his friends. By the end of the second season, he developed that form of comfort into a real passion.
Would all of this have happened if his parents didn’t leave him home alone, if they gave him love and support every moment of his life, never leaving his side? Would he still have pursued swimming as strongly as he did, or would he have stopped after a while? Would he have become Rin’s rival and motivation, Nagisa’s inspiration, Rei’s role model? I’m not sure.
I think his parents love him dearly and care about him a lot, but you can’t argue the fact they made a huge mistake, being absent from his life.
I also think, however, that a good story always starts with a conflict to overcome.

BACK STAGE!! IS COMING OUT AS A MANGA, STARTING THIS WEDNESDAY.
Love Shougo and Rei’s heartbreaking, bittersweet, erotic, over-the-top romantic side story, but hate reading novels? Want to see more than just the illustrations in the books?
WELL ZAOU AND EIKI HAVE HEARD YOUR CRIES. Eiki Eiki posted the following to her blog today:
Now, let’s discuss the November issue of Ciel, going on sale the 30th! First, let me apologize: the Love Stage!! manga will be taking a break this month for some “adjustments”—this is because you’ll want to read the continuation in the January issue out in November, released after the 5th volume of the manga! So for the November issue, we’re taking a break.
Also, because we’re also doing manga installments for the DVD extras and such, the page number this time is a little on the short side.
But it’s still worth checking out. For both those who’ve read the novels and those who haven’t.
That’s right! The content included this time will be…BACK STAGE!!
It’s finally starting! This issue, we’ll have Act 0, which acts as a prologue. It’s brand-new material not included in the novels!
We actually thought this through a lot…and have decided to release all of Back Stage!! as a manga! At first, we thought about just starting right from the end of the novels, but there’s three whole novels of material, so if we suddenly started publishing something that started after all of that, there would be a lot of people who wouldn’t know what was going on.
Plus I really want to see Rei and Shougo in their younger years! So we’re going all out and doing the WHOLE THING as a manga! And since we’re going through the effort, we’ve decided to add in some new material we couldn’t put in the novels. And of course post-volume 3 stuff too! (*^.^*)
So please check out both Love Stage!! AND Back Stage!!
Also, this month’s Ciel will include special Love Stage!! material drawn by Koujima Nadzuki-sensei, Itou Youko-san, and Junko! And an interview with Daigo and me (Eiki Eiki)! AND the cover is Shougo and Rei! So please check it out, everyone!
Do you even have to ask if we’ll be scanlating this baby? NO YOU DON’T! You ought to know we’d be all over this!
We’ll try to get it out ASAP. So look forward to seeing all of Shougo and Rei’s delicious story in glorious living color!
Kashima Yuu in Episode 12
One final leak from CoroCoro! Most people didn’t catch it because it was a loose page that fell out in the mail, but my inside source managed to keep it and get this picture for me! It appears that Azumarill has gotten an even more powerful Mega Evolution!

the origons of Ouija boards are funny if you think about it like they’re part of an another country (China)’s ancient history that was practiced until one emporer decided “You know what this is probably a bad idea” and banned the practice.
then centuries later an old buisnessman comes along and is like “I’m going to take this and market it as a toy to children.”
Which is the exact plot of Yu-Gi-Oh
incorrect, only real mature adults play yugioh
Client: There’s a problem with your invoice.
Me: Oh? What’s the problem?
Client: Well, I can’t actually pay it. You see, the thing is that I knew I didn’t have the money when I got you to do the job but - and I might not have mentioned this - I’m a big believer in the Laws of Attraction….
